Washington, DC (November 2, 2017) – In honor of Veterans Day on November 11, Weis Markets today announced the launch of a two-week campaign to support the Paralyzed Veterans of America’s Mission: ABLE campaign, which encourages veterans and their families, corporate supporters and friends to help create an America where our most severely injured heroes have access to what they’ve earned and deserve: care, jobs and benefits.

“Paralyzed Veterans of America is grateful to Weis Markets for its support,” said National President David Zurfluh. “We provide life-sustaining programs and services to veterans and their families free-of-charge, so the support of Weis customers will directly impact them. We thank Weis Markets for its partnership, and for honoring veterans on Veterans Day in this way.”

To support the initiative, Weis Markets and its associates are encouraging customers to make small donations at Weis checkouts by rounding up their orders or purchasing $1, $3, $5 or $10 vouchers from Nov. 2 – Nov. 15. Weis will also make a corporate donation to the cause at the end of the campaign.

“Veterans are not only an essential part of the fabric of this country, they’re part of the fabric of Weis Markets. Over the years, many of our associates, past and present have served their country, including our late Chairman Robert F. Weis, who served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. We are proud of them and all the veterans who served our country,” said Ron Bonacci, Vice President of Marketing and Advertising for Weis Markets. “The work that Paralyzed Veterans of America does provides much needed support to veterans that have sacrificed so much for our country. We are honored to begin this new relationship and look forward to raising funds to support this very important cause.”

With more than 42,000 American veterans living with spinal cord-related paralysis, Paralyzed Veterans of America’s mission is to create an America where the most severely injured veterans are provided the physical care needed to live a healthy life, receive the benefits they’ve earned through military service and obtain job training and opportunities for new and fulfilling careers.
