Medical Services

A team of experienced registered nurses, physicians, and support staff monitor and respond to inquiries from across the country regarding spinal cord injury and disease (SCI/D) via our Healthcare Helpline - 1-800-232-1782.

In addition, the team conducts routine on-site visits to review the quality of medical care provided to our members. Our program monitors access to care and the delivery of health care to veterans with spinal cord injury or disease at Veterans Affairs Medical Centers nationwide. We conduct focused visits to various medical centers when serious issues are identified by our local national service officers (NSOs) located throughout the country.

Ongoing, we assist in the development, design, and organization structure for the Veterans SCI/D Program.  The team provides education with support on various committees. We provide guidance to general public on the care of the SCI/D individual. The Medical Service staff also regularly contributes healthcare articles to the Paraplegic News.
