Paralyzed Veterans of America a (Paralyzed Veterans) organized its first annual Partner Conference on April 23, 2014, in Washington, D.C. for a day of discussions and briefings on the various issues that are central to veterans’ health, employment, and reintegration back into civilian and community life after service or injury.

More than 70 attendees including Paralyzed Veterans' corporate and government partners, senior leaders, vendors and staff gathered to learn more about the ways in which Paralyzed Veterans is involved in helping veterans secure quality health care, VA benefits and jobs.
In addition to hearing opening remarks from former Rep. Patrick Murphy, who is host of “Take the Hill” on MSNBC, and Paralyzed Veterans President Bill Lawson, attendees had a chance to participate in panel discussions:
These included "Connecting the Dots on Veterans Employment" with representatives from the three government agencies who work closely together and with the employer and veteran community--Timothy (Tim) Green–Director, Office of Strategic Outreach, Department of Labor; Alison O. Rosen – Lead Management and Program Analyst, Office of Economic Opportunity, Department of Veterans Affairs, and Wayne Boswell, Director of Operations, Transition to Veterans Program Office, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness. Along with two representatives of the employer community—Rich Brooks, President of Agility Defense & Government Services, and Patrick O’ Leary, Veterans Affairs Manager, UPS who shared their views and perspectives on the various ways the private sector can support veteran employment, and Sherman Gillums, Jr. who directs Paralyzed Veterans' Operation PAVE (Paving Access for Veterans Employment) program.
“Better Business, Greater Good” exploring the intersection of cause marketing and veterans. Panelists included Art Vallely, Executive Vice President, Operations, Penske Truck Leasing; Russell (Rusty) Barron, Vice President, North American Marketing, Shell Lubricants; Ron Bonacci, VP, Marketing, Food City and Facilitator—Rich Maiore, Senior Vice President, Cone Communications.
And “A Multidimensional Approach to Veterans’ Health Needs” with representatives from several of Paralyzed Veterans of America’s departments that work with veteran health issues: Sherman Gillums, Jr., Associate Executive Director, Veterans Benefits; Lana McKenzie, Associate Executive Director, Medical Services; Mark Lichter, Director of Architecture, and Alethea Predeoux, Senior Associate Director, Health Legislation.
The conference concluded with Paralyzed Veterans President-elect, Al Kovach, introducing himself. Paralyzed Veterans is grateful for all the attendees support of the first annual partner conference.
