TITLE: Administrative Assistant to the Executive Committee
DEPARTMENT: Office of the President
SUPERVISOR: Executive Assistant to the Executive Committee
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Provides assistance to the Executive Assistant to the Executive Committee in performance of various administrative, logistical, and clerical functions necessary to support the Executive Committee and Past National Presidents.  Cooperatively provides support to the Executive Offices. 
REQUIREMENTS:

Undergraduate degree with three years of executive level experience with excellent references.  Must be a solid team player in a service-minded environment.  Must be sensitive to and protective of the confidentiality of business matters conducted by the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and Executive Offices.  Must be skilled in multi-tasking, have excellent organizational and oral/written communications.  Must have the ability to take efficient and accurate notes; be highly proficient in Microsoft Office XP, e-mail and calendaring, and type 70 wpm.  Must be able to interface effectively with all levels of PVA staff and management, National and Chapter officers and representatives.  Must be available for travel for PVA Annual Convention, Mid-Winter Board of Directors Meetings, Executive Committee Meetings, and other meetings as required by the National President.  Special events (Veterans Day) may require duties on holidays upon rare occasion. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Performs a wide variety of detailed, complex and confidential administrative tasks for the Associate Executive Director of Veterans Benefits with minimal guidance.
REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant work experience or 4 years experience as an executive secretary/assistant. JOB LOCATION: WASHINGTON, DC
TITLE: Veterans Law Specialist (VLS)
ORGANIZATION: Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program
EMPLOYER: National Veterans Legal Services Program
SUPERVISOR: Director, Case Evaluation and Placement Component
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing appellate claim files and providing well-written recommendations to the Director as to whether the cases of appellants, filed with the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, meet jurisdictional and merit eligibility criteria for assignment with a Program attorney. In each case reviewed the selected candidate will prepare a screening memorandum explaining why the case should or should not be referred to a Program attorney.  The memorandum shall set forth the issues, the Court’s jurisdiction, the determinations by the Board of Veterans Appeals, reasons for placement or non-placement, and all viable arguments supporting placement or non-placement as appropriate. The VLS may be required to provide insight to assigned counsel when requested.  The VLS will communicate with Department of Veterans Affairs Professional Staff Group, (legal) personnel, personnel in the Public Office of the Clerk of the Court, and with various veterans’ service organizations and veterans.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have HS Diploma or GED with higher or related education preferred. Above average writing and oral communication skills are essential.  Strong interpersonal relation and social skills needed. Dedication to serving veterans is strongly preferred. Patience and tenacity of purpose valued. Familiarity and experience with military service and medical records a plus. The candidate must have, or be able to obtain and maintain, VA accreditation.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of two years experience working with spinal cord injury or dysfunction (SCI/D). Familiarity with the Department of Veterans Affairs’ organizational structure, case management techniques, and clinical record interpretation is desired. BSN, and/or management training is a plus. Excellent oral and written communication is a must. A competitive salary, outstanding benefits, some travel, and a Monday thru Friday work week.

REQUIREMENTS: Must have HS diploma or GED with higher education or related experience preferred. Above average oral/written communication skills and strong interpersonal relation skills needed. The candidate must also obtain and maintain VA accreditation and be an honorably discharged veteran.
