GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Primary responsibilities include: manage all media relations (i.e., story development, pitching, and placement), build internal and external relationships with stakeholders and target audiences, and create/maintain communication tools (i.e., press releases, speeches, talking points). 
REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor’s degree in a communications or related field. Five or more years experience in public relations, media relations and/or a journalist.  Selected candidate must be highly organized, have outstanding communication skills, interpersonal skills, crisis communications and editorial skills.  Must have demonstrated story pitching and placement success and must be computer literate in MS Office.  The incumbent must also have outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to travel on a frequent basis.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Raises funds for PVA’s National Veterans Wheelchair Games, sports and other company events by cultivating, closing and stewarding major corporate and foundation gifts.
REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor’s degree in a business discipline or related field. Five or more years experience in non-profit development; events based marketing, cause marketing or sales.

TITLE: ASSOCIATE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR VETERANS BENEFITS
DEPARTMENT: Veterans Benefits Department
SUPERVISOR: Executive Director
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the management and administration of the Veterans Benefits Department, including personnel assigned to the department, related programs, and services for PVA chapters and members.  Program areas include Field Services, Vocational Rehabilitation Services, and Appellate Services.
REQUIREMENTS:

REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience in working with veterans benefits, is a proven manager/leader, possess, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in management or equivalent work experience.  The candidate must have excellent written/oral communication skills, good computer skills, oversight/budget skills, and be a team player.  Prior management experience and prior PVA experience preferred. The candidate must be an honorably discharged veteran. Membership in the Paralyzed Veterans of America is a strong plus.

TITLE: Veterans Law Specialist (VLS)
ORGANIZATION: Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program
EMPLOYER: National Veterans Legal Services Program
SUPERVISOR: Director, Case Evaluation and Placement Component
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing appellate claim files and providing well-written recommendations to the Director as to whether the cases of appellants, filed with the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, meet jurisdictional and merit eligibility criteria for assignment with a Program attorney. In each case reviewed the selected candidate will prepare a screening memorandum explaining why the case should or should not be referred to a Program attorney.  The memorandum shall set forth the issues, the Court’s jurisdiction, the determinations by the Board of Veterans Appeals, reasons for placement or non-placement, and all viable arguments supporting placement or non-placement as appropriate. The VLS may be required to provide insight to assigned counsel when requested.  The VLS will communicate with Department of Veterans Affairs Professional Staff Group, (legal) personnel, personnel in the Public Office of the Clerk of the Court, and with various veterans’ service organizations and veterans.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have HS Diploma or GED with higher or related education preferred. Above average writing and oral communication skills are essential.  Strong interpersonal relation and social skills needed. Dedication to serving veterans is strongly preferred. Patience and tenacity of purpose valued. Familiarity and experience with military service and medical records a plus. The candidate must have, or be able to obtain and maintain, VA accreditation.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS: Paralyzed Veteran’s of America, a national nonprofit veteran’s service organization seeks an Editor for its publication office in Phoenix, AZ. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years experience in managing, writing, editing, proofing, and preparing publications. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, contract negotiation skills, budget preparation, and previous management experience. Candidate must have computer skills and knowledge of commonly used computer programs. Participation in or knowledge about wheelchair sports is desirable. A Bachelor’s degree in English/Journalism is preferred. Membership in the Paralyzed Veteran’s of America is strongly preferred. An honorably discharged veteran is also preferred. REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of two years experience working with spinal cord injury or dysfunction (SCI/D). Familiarity with the Department of Veterans Affairs’ organizational structure, case management techniques, and clinical record interpretation is desired. BSN, and/or management training is a plus.
