Gift from Call of Duty Endowment to Help Boston-Area Paralyzed Veterans get Good Jobs

Vocational rehabilitation in Miami

A $375,000 grant from Call of Duty Endowment (CODE) will establish a new Paralyzed Veterans of America Vocational Rehabilitation Office in Boston. The new office, part of an emerging network, will empower veterans with disabilities with the services and tools they need to reintegrate into the job market—while matching them with businesses and organizations with career positions.

“We are deeply grateful to CODE for their generosity and their commitment to help veterans with disabilities secure great jobs and careers, which in turn helps employers strengthen their workforces with great employees,” said Homer S. Townsend, Jr. national executive director of Paralyzed Veterans.

CODE was established by Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), a worldwide online, PC and console video game publisher and publisher of the best-selling Call of Duty® video game franchise.  This nonprofit public benefit corporation will focus its resources on assisting organizations that provide job placement and training to veterans, as well as engaging the media and public forums to raise awareness about the issue.

Paralyzed Veterans estimates the national unemployment rate for veterans with severe disabilities to be over 85 percent. With this grant, and the work already being done by across the nation, we aim to make this grim statistic a thing of the past by helping to unleash the untapped talent and potential of this often underutilized part of our workforce,” said Townsend.
